Recently, we were issued with a group research project’s to
work on. Students are required to establish groups of four students in order to
complete this research. My group were
tasked to select a business premise and analyse further on it. We decided to focus
out subject toward EMO Bookstore retails, which coincidentally had one of its outlet
established in Taylors University campus.
Prior to the group project commencement, I am expecting every
member in the group to be actively involved from the beginning till the end and
therefore no so called ‘free-rider’ member. This is vital in ensuring the
project can be completed on time without compromising the contents. Last but
not least, I am expecting the end results of research subject will be able to
serve as guidance in my future career.
In the end, I have the utmost confidence that my early expectations
are pleasingly fulfilled. Every team member participates admirably with no
presence of ‘free-rider’ throughout. Whenever any problem or issues arise, members
are able to sit together and reach a final say in the end although everyone had
their own opinion on the matter. Moreover, we were not only able to complete
the task satisfactorily ahead of time but also able to gain an insight view of
managing retail outlets.
The interview session conducted which played an integral
part of the project went very well. This might be contributed by factors such
as conveniently located venue chosen for interview, excellent cooperation
amongst members, very nice and cooperative branch manager, informative answers as well as un-stressful
ambient.
Setting aside the positive side of the interview, we were
facing an issue whereby our questionnaires are incomplete after conducting the
interview. This had interrupted the on-going process of drafting the project.
Fortunately however,
we were able to overcome the issue by sourcing the required information from
the company’s user friendly and informative website.
It is hoped that I will improve further on my questionnaire preparedness.
Meticulously prepared questionnaire is vital to ensure that the previous issue
encountered will be prevented thus avoiding unnecessary additional work.
In the process of completing this task, I have been able to learn
the proper way of conducting an interview and hone my communication skills
along the way.
I would like to thank Mr Fadly , the branch manager of the
bookstores for his precious time spent with us and also relay my thanks to Miss
Regina my tutor not forgetting my group members for their efforts in completing
this project.
